Overview:

CoStar Group is currently seeking a proven strategic and operational leader to run our Bethesda, MD based Research Quality Assurance team.  The QA Director is a high profile position with overall responsibility to build and lead an elite team that independently evaluates the information gathered by our 800+ person research staff in the US, India and the Philippines. 

 



Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement industry leading quality assurance measures that effectively test our targeted goals of quantity, accuracy and completeness against actual results.
  • Validate that the proper research process is being executed and that the information collected by the research staff is directly verified with the proper sources and is timely.
  • Analyze and translate audit results/trends into clear and meaningful coaching and development opportunities for use by the research management team.
  • Lead a top-tier team of QA Managers and Analysts who objectively evaluate the information from a client perspective and partner with the research teams to drive continuous improvement in the quality of data.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Develop meaningful audits that check CoStar data against reality and set benchmarks for research performance and improvement.
  • Oversee team of QA Analysts who audit at least 5% of all data and activity by portfolio, field and specialty research teams, along with offshore groups, to assess data accuracy and whether what was slated to occur in the research process actually did occur.
  • Implement regular cycle of aggregate level database audits to correct implausible range and visually obvious errors. Contribute to prevention of errors through ongoing development of database validation checks.
  • Communicate specific QA results/trends to the management and research teams on at least a bi-weekly basis. Form of communication should be both verbal and in writing and not only address needed areas of focus, but also offer solutions and progress updates to ensure sustained improvement.
  • Strengthen existing QA team and future leadership candidates by recruiting, mentoring and developing high caliber individuals with demonstrated top level performance, exceptional communication skills, proven leadership capability and the highest level of integrity.
  • Develop and sustain recognition as subject matter expert on CoStar research methodology, commercial real estate industry trends, competitive grids and quality assurance best practices. Contribute to the development of a dynamic, user-friendly and accessible online source of standard definitions, procedures and tips for success for use by the research department.

 

 



Qualifications:
  • BA/BS degree and advanced level proficiency in MS Office.
  • Excellent problem solving, research and analytical skills; attention to detail, objectivity and ability to think strategically.
  • 5+ years of commercial real estate industry experience, proficiency with CoStar products and/or quality assurance background (Six Sigma, TQM, etc) preferred. Statistical background and base level proficiency in SQL a strong plus.
  • High energy self-starter with clear, concise and polished verbal, written and presentation skills; ability to interact with all levels of internal company contacts, international contacts and current or prospective clients.
  • Proven leadership skills and track record of top level performance. Comfort and experience in a pay-for-performance environment.
